A few green areas along Blackburn are at risk of being removed in order to continue land development.
Some other areas that I have concern for are along Blackburn. One area is a group of large willow trees near the elementary School St. Basil/Walter G. This area has so far been left alone and appears like it will be incorporated into the development plans, then main reason of concern is that some trees just on the edge of some houses' property were recently cut (In September 2022). If I recall correctly Brantford by-laws state no tree is to be cut from April 1 - October 31, this is due to bird migration patterns. However, these areas had the trees cut during this time period which must have negatively impacted the area.
The trees and shrubs cut in these areas were done during mid and late September 2022.
The other trees are just at a forest on Blackburn, this forest is in the plans for development to be included though the trees along the edges and it some surrounding wetlands could be at risk.
We currently do not not know the development plans so these areas could already be incorporated but its still worth mentioning to show that we care.
