There is a farm field along Conklin and Mt Pleasant. The current development plans appear to remove most if not all the trees in the area. This is a satellite image of the area
If development for this area happens the same as it did just a little further south on the LE & N Trail all the trees in this area will be cut. There is currently amenity area between the trail and the development zone. However, this doesn't give much reassurance given the other trees along the LE & N Trail were cut in their respective amenity area (Mentioned in "Trail Destruction" Blog post).
Ideally the large amount of trees in this area would be converted into a park rather than completely removed. At a minimum the trees in this amenity space should all be saved and not be cut. The city of Brantford needs to do better in the preservation of our green areas. Hopefully, in talking about this more people will speak out and help not only this area but many green space areas that are currently under threat of development in Brantford.
Here is just another image of the area, with a sign saying LET IT GROW, encouraging all the trees and nature in this area to be protected. Ideally, this sign should be there for a reason and not just for show.
